The Katana of the Wind and Thunder set is designed specifically for the martial artist who needs a sword to meet the demands of heavy target cutting. The Katana features a heavier and thicker blade with traditional furniture and fittings. The set features black iron Raiden tsuba and Tomoe motif fuchi and kashira. The tsuka are wrapped in genuine same (ray skin) and the tsuka-ito is premium Japanese black cotton. The saya is finished in a traditional black laquer with a black cotton sageo. The Katana is an excellent choice for batto-jutsu practitioners.

Each piece in the Shinto Daisho (SH1001 & SH1015) has a hand-forged 1065 high-carbon steel blade (nagasa) and is differentially tempered using a traditional claying method. The Shinto Daisho is mounted in black and the tsuka-ito is made of premium black Japanese cotton. The saya is done in a deep black lacquer with a black cotton sageo. A finely rendered dragon, detailed in gold, with true front-and-back detail, forms the black iron tsuba. The fittings are superbly antiqued adding to the aesthetics of the set. The blades feature a groove (bo-hi) on both sides and are constructed with a medium length (chu) kissaki. Hand forged, very hard AISI1065 high carbon steel blade. The HA (edge) is tempered using the traditional Japanese clay tempering technique to produce an HRC 56 and an HRC 45 for the back. A true Hamon (temper Line) is evident along the HA (edge). This is a "Live Steel" Sword crafted by traditional sword-smiths well trained in the art of sword making. This sword will stand up to Practice in the DOJO and Tameshigiri.

No edged weapon in history has ever been surrounded with such Mystique and tradition like the Japanese sword. For more than 2600 years, the "City of Treasure Sword", Longquan, is known for making the best swords in the world. Located within the border of South Zhejiang, China and under the Fengyang Mountain, Longquan is rich in resources that are suitable for crafting swords.

During the period of Warring States (770-476 B.C.), a famous sword maker named Ou Yezi created the most renowned sword in Longquan. Since then, the secret arts of crafting swords have been passed down from generation to generation.

In 1876, the Samurai were banned from carrying their swords. This attempt to end a thousand year tradition was not received well by the proud warrior class and the stick katana was born. Innocuous walking canes now concealed the revered blades, but the katana lived on. The Bamboo Stick Katana (SH1002) combines an artfully curved bamboo scabbard and handle with a blade (nagasa) that is constructed of hand-forged 1065 high-carbon steel and is differentially tempered using a traditional claying method. The edge hardness and resilient blade body produced by this technique embody the true secret of the Samurai sword.
